24 hour team on hand to help you

Jayne Smith, Operations Director
In my previous role as document production specialist, manager and IT trainer for DLA Piper’s Liverpool office, I worked unusual hours, 5pm till midnight.  The opportunity to work around my family’s needs meant a salary could be earned without the feeling of guilt usually associated with being a working mum.  When I was given the opportunity to develop Document Direct I immediately saw the business as a great win-win solution for both workers and clients.  Being able to work from any location and at any time gives a sense of freedom unmatched elsewhere.

I hope to foster a culture of resourcefulness, helpfulness and caring as these attributes and values will deliver a quality of life to our team and to our clients.   Those who choose to join us share our values.

Sharon Sartain, Secretarial Manager
I am married with twin boys and live in Liverpool.  I have worked in many different sectors over my career, legal, education, scientific research and surveying.

Aside from my family, I love music (mainly the 80s - should I admit that?) and theatre and the cinema.  I absolutely love working from home and I am sure any working parent will understand my reasons for that.   Childcare and a “normal” 9-5 job do not seem to mix.  I enjoy all aspects of the work I do but mostly legal work as it can be so varied and interesting.  No two cases are the same - one minute it’s family law, the next, it could be a be marine collision.

There might be an assumption that we’re lonely and cut-off from the outside world when we’re working from home.   But with our current technology and our fantastic working relationships with the rest of the team and we keep in constant contact.  We bounce ideas off each other with regards to work and also manage to have a little laugh and joke, so there’s never a feeling of missing out on the office banter.

I’ve been remote working for three years now and wouldn’t contemplate going back to an office-based job.  I am here for my children whenever they need me, but am still able to contribute to the family finances.  I have a great rapport with our clients and I’m in the best position to help them and my family.

Andrea Peate, Superviser
I have been working from home now since 2007 and thoroughly enjoy it.  I am married and don’t have any children and live in St Helens.  I enjoy cooking, mountain biking, walking and swimming and have recently taken up the hobby of tropical fish.

I have worked in such sectors as the NHS, working at the Royal Free NHS Trust for over 7 years and DTZ Debenham Tie Leung, London City Office and also Eversheds, Manchester for a number of years, so have a varied background.  But I specifically enjoy working in the legal sector as it so interesting.  I have come to know some of our legal clients very well and have now firmed up good working relationships with them as they know they can contact me, 7 days a week, if they need any help.

Although I have not met all of the members of our team because we live in different areas, I have become close friends with them and if I ever have a problem that I need to talk over, they’re always there for me, an email away so I never feel lonely.
